Actor/Writer Cullen Douglas,
is probably most recognized for his various
television appearances - including roles on
Prison Break, Deadwood, and Bones.
His performance as "The Birdman" - the awake
open-heart surgery patient on Grey's Anatomy
drew rave reviews, as has his recent appearance on
Private Practice - as
Hal, a patient
accused of a malicious crime that stirs up anger and
emotions within everyone at the medical practice.
He currently co-stars in both the
big-screen thriller Shuttle, releasing on DVD
in April 2009, and Warner Home Video's Ace
Ventura Jr.
Past film appearances include John
Sayles’ Sunshine State alongside the late
Alan King, and a brief supporting role in the
independent film Love Liza opposite Philip
Seymour Hoffman.
Current writing projects in
development include the hourlong television pilot
In Tew Deep,
the family film Saving Livingston
written for DNP Studios, and Just Love - Period
- which he co-wrote with his wife Rachel
Douglas.
Cullen
studied at the American Musical and Dramatic
Academy, Florida School of the Arts, and completed
The Acting Internship Program at New Stage Theatre
in Jackson, MS. It was there that he also
originated the role of "Zephon" in Eden - a
World Premier in the Eudora Welty New Play Series.
He received a "Best Supporting
Actor," Lillie Stoates - a regional theatre award,
and shares a "Special Recognition Award" with Rachel
- from The Down Syndrome Association of Central
Florida, for helping create greater awareness.
Cullen and
Rachel make their home in Los Angeles, CA with their
two boys Gabriel and Cameron.
